Job Description:
Global Trade Compliance Analyst
India | Global HS Classification and EMEA Customs Operations
Role Overview
Nextpower is helping accelerate the global transition to clean energy. Every project depends on a supply chain that can move products across borders accurately and reliably. As a Global Trade Compliance Analyst, you will contribute to that mission by turning complex customs requirements into sound product classifications, dependable reporting, and processes that help project teams deliver with confidence around the world.
Your Impact Across Regions
From India, you’ll strengthen the trade foundations behind Nextpower’s global projects—helping ensure products are classified accurately, customs reporting is dependable, and teams have clear information to act on. Working across EMEA operations and business systems, you’ll spot recurring gaps and improve the documentation and data flows that make compliant trade easier to deliver at scale. Your contribution will build greater visibility and help reduce avoidable customs delays across our global supply chain. The role focuses on planned analysis, reporting, and improvement during agreed India–EMEA working-hour overlap.
Responsibilities
Global HS Classification
Process global classification requests for new products and shipments; gather missing technical specifications from product, engineering, sourcing, logistics, and regional teams.
Apply established methods to routine cases, research applicable HS rules, and document codes, rationale, and evidence. Escalate ambiguous, novel, or complex cases for senior review.
Maintain classification records, supporting evidence, and product master data; update records when HS nomenclature or guidance changes.
EMEA Customs Operations and Reporting
Reconcile shipment, product, customs-entry, and document data for scheduled EMEA reporting and post-clearance self-assessments; investigate differences among internal, broker, and customs records, and track corrections to closure.
Support EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) reporting by coordinating information from brokers, suppliers, and internal data owners, checking completeness and consistency, and tracking deadlines.
Check invoices, packing lists, transport documents, customs entries, and country-of-origin or preferential-origin records for completeness and consistency. Link supplier or manufacturer evidence to relevant products and shipments, maintain practical checklists, and follow up on gaps and corrections; escalate origin questions requiring rule interpretation or calculations.
Summarize recurring exceptions by type, owner, age, impact, and next action; analyze missing-data and correction trends to identify root causes and recommend improvements.
Systems, Data and Process Improvement
Document customs workflows, data definitions, reporting requirements, and control points with IT, business systems, and process owners to support repeatable operations and automation.
Test reports and systems by reconciling outputs to source data, logging defects, improving data quality, and supporting work instructions, rollout, and user adoption.
Qualifications
At least three years’ experience in customs, trade compliance, import/export, or related supply-chain work. Relevant degree preferred; equivalent experience accepted. PV or steel experience is an asset.
One year of hands-on HS classification experience, or equivalent knowledge demonstrated during the interview; able to apply established methods, document rationale, and escalate complex cases.
Strong Excel and practical data-analysis skills in reconciliation, validation, exception analysis, and trend reporting. Working knowledge of Oracle GTM/OTM is preferred; experience with other ERP or customs systems is valuable.
Experience with EMEA origin or preferential-origin documentation, post-clearance reviews, or CBAM is an advantage.
Strong written and spoken English; able to coordinate planned work across functions, regions, and time zones.
